MP Rob Oliphant, MP Yasmin Ratansi, MPP Michael Coteau and MPP Kathleen Wynne are hosting a Canada Day Celebration BBQ at Aga Khan Park this Monday, July 1st from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
“Canada Day is a celebration of our values and our diversity as Canadians and a recognition of how beautiful our great country is” said Liberal MPP Michael Coteau. “I’m proud to be hosting this annual event once again with my Liberal MP & MPP colleagues and I want to invite everyone to join us.”
For MP Yasmin Ratansi, Canada Day is a time to “express our gratitude to the Indigenous peoples for their stewardship of this beautiful country. This is an occasion to celebrate our diversity of culture and the pursuit of a pluralistic and just society. That is why I’m excited for our event on Canada Day”.
MPP Kathleen Wynne, who has been hosting a Canada Day BBQ for 16 years, said this event always holds a special significance for her. “Our diversity, our culture, and our rich history are on full display as we gather to mark our nation’s heritage and celebrate our bright future”.
For MP Rob Oliphant, Canada Day celebrations are special because it’s a chance to celebrate the uniqueness of Canada. “We are all richer as a result of the strengths, values, and cultures that we all bring to this great nation. To highlight our country’s great diversity, it is my hope that you will join me, your elected representatives, and your fellow Canadians to celebrate Canada Day”
This year’s Canada Day BBQ will likely be bigger and better than even because it will be the first year that MPs and MPPs from Don Valley East and West have teamed up to hold this special celebration at the beautiful Aga Khan Park at Eglinton and Don Mills.
